The route of this race is grandiose! Not a lot of marathons could come as close in terms of the number of landmarks you would encounter during your 42K journey.
The Rome Marathon is a big loop of 42.195 km, the route is famous for being flat for the most part. Making the race suitable for a personal best.
The race starts at the world known Colosseum. Then you would run by the Vittoriano; and right after by Piazza Venezia. You will also be able to admire the Circus Maximus and run along the river on the Lungotevere. Finally, the finish line will take you back to the Colosseum.
The city of Rome is in the central part of the Italian peninsula. It is the capital city of the country, and it is more than 27 centuries old. Needless to say, history is around every corner…
The Roman Empire, the Catholicism, the Renaissance and the Second World War all impacted the shape of the city. You will be taking a step back in time when strolling the “Eternal City”.
